Blog Background

My name is Rachel Hirsch and I’m an art history student at Wesleyan University. This summer, I’m working in Baltimore as a curatorial intern at the Walters Art Museum. The museum is located in the Mount Vernon district, which offers parks, monuments, museums, and churches for the enjoyment of locals and tourists. While wandering around during my first couple of days in the city, some of the churches caught my eye and I decided to write about them. With the help of Baltimore’s Charm City Circulator, a bus that takes you virtually anywhere in the city for free, I’m checking out religious structures throughout Baltimore and writing about them as a limited aesthetic record of the city. These entries are mostly meant as a personal chronicle of my adventures and architectural explorations, but I hope that you enjoy them as well.
